Honorary NSM Alum Nomination Process
The College of Natural Science and Mathematics will honor one person per year who is NOT a graduate or former student of a department within NSM but, through their loyalty, service, support, and commitment to NSM, has earned this recognition and honor. Any current NSM alumni, faculty, or staff may nominate an “Honorary NSM Alum” using the format below.
Nomination and Award Process
The Dean of the College (or their designate) will form a selection committee. The committee will be responsible for soliciting and reviewing all nominations. The committee will present their recommendations to the Dean, who will make the final decision.
The New Honorary Alum will be announced prior to the Da Vinci Society Dinner, during which they will be given a framed Honorary Alumni Certificate. A list of all Honorary Alumni will be posted on the NSM website.
Nomination Format Includes:
- Nominee Name
- Nominee Email
- Nominee Address
- Nominee Cell Phone
- Contact information of the nominator
- Brief summary highlighting the reason for the nomination in 500 characters or less.
In addition, nominators may submit a one-page letter highlighting why the nominee should be considered and a maximum of five additional pages supporting the nominee’s credentials, such as a full bio, news clippings, a list of awards and honors, etc.
Nominations should be emailed in PDF form to Alex Gilles (agilles@central.uh.edu) by Monday, June 30.
