Global Affiliated Faculty Program

Interested in expanding your global engagement at UH? The UH Institute for Global Engagement Affiliate Faculty Program recognizes University of Houston faculty who actively contribute to globally focused teaching, research and collaboration across campus and beyond.

Through a renewable, three-year courtesy appointment, affiliate faculty are formally acknowledged for their interdisciplinary involvement with the UH Institute for Global Engagement, including participation in seminars, globally relevant courses, collaborative research, grant activity and student-centered global initiatives. Affiliate appointments are recorded with the Provost’s Office.

Who is Eligible?

Affiliate faculty must hold a UH faculty appointment and demonstrate ongoing engagement with the Institute’s education, research or related activities. Participation may include teaching globally affiliated courses, collaborating on grants or publications, or planning future joint initiatives. Appointments are reviewed periodically to ensure continued involvement.

What Are the Benefits?

Affiliate faculty are invited to Institute seminars and events, included on web and print rosters, and encouraged to list the UH Institute for Global Engagement as an affiliation on relevant publications and presentations. Affiliates also gain access to internal funding opportunities, global networks, consultation for international partnerships, and workshops focused on global education and engagement.

How to Request Affiliation

Faculty interested in an affiliate appointment should email Amb. Michael Pelletier (ret’d), Executive Director of the UH Institute for Global Engagement, at mppelletier@uh.edu with:

  • A brief statement of interest
  • A current CV
  • A short description of research and/or teaching specialties
  • A summary of prior or planned collaborations with the Institute

Appointments follow a formal review and approval process involving the faculty member’s department, college leadership, and the Provost’s Office.

Participation in the Global Affiliated Faculty Program helps strengthen UH’s global presence while advancing interdisciplinary collaboration and student opportunities across the University.
